During the Youtube video Intersectionality, the definition was provided, multiple social categorizations such as race, class and gender. These intersections create overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.They are social identities that intersect. The video talked about oppression and privileges that overlap and reinforce each other. The experiences are different for everyone. Some people don’t have to think about their advantages and disadvantages. 

 During the TED Talks Urgency of Intersectionality by Kimberle Crenshaw talked about violence against black women and how it is not talked about. Many African American women are being killed by police brutality. Many of these violence are not being talked about in the media and are invisible to the media( at least they make it seem that way) . Media does not speak about who is being victimized by these problems of police brutality.Therefore there not letting people there is a problem. This social justice racism and sexism are often overlapping creating levels of injustice. During the TED talk Kimeberle Crenshaw talked about many exclusions. Kimberle spoke about Emma, who encountered both gender and racial bias by law. Emma's experience was not viewed as an issue. One thing that stood out was “if we can’t see a problem, we can’t do anything.” If people are not being affected by it it’s not spoken about it. Kimeberle Crenshaw spoke about speaking up and letting them know these are injustice issues. 

 While reading the Peculiar Benefits by Roxane Gay spoke on privileges. Roxane spoke about the privileges she had. “ Privilege is a right or immunity granted as a peculiar benefit, advantage, or favor. There is racial privilege, gender (and identity) privilege, heterosexual privilege, economic privilege, able-bodied privilege, educational privilege, religious privilege and the list goes on and on. At some point, you have to surrender to the kinds of privilege you hold because everyone has something someone else doesn’t.” The problem is that when people have privilege they don't view it as having privilege. 

 Often privilege is not talked about. The oppression to race and gender is ignored. A lot of time when people ignore the fact that there is a problem. Just because it is not being spoken about It does not mean it doesn’t exist. As we see there is a lot of police brutality. How could we change institutions to view racism and sexism as an issue?
